VakıfBank start the new year with a win against Yeşilyurt

On Friday 7th of January, VakıfBank claimed a 3-0 win in the 14th game of the Turkish League season against Yeşilyurt.
 

The last world champion VakıfBank defeated Yeşilyurt 3-0 in the first match of the new year and got its twelfth victory in the league.

 

In Burhan Felek Sports Hall, VakıfBank won the first set 25-20. The yellow-blacks maintained the rhythm in the second set and brought the game to 2-0 with a set score of 25-13. Playing comfortably in the last set, VakıfBank managed to win the set 25-14 and the match 3-0.

 

Derya Cebecioğlu was the top scorer in the game with 15 points. Meryem Boz and Kübra Akman were the other names reaching double digits with 11 points each. Thus, the yellow-blacks won their first match in the second half of the Turkish League.

 

Giovanni Guidetti: “My players are highly motivated and aware of the importance of the upcoming matches”

 

VakıfBank Head Coach Giovanni Guidetti said in a statement after his match: “We are in a very difficult period. We have very important games in January. We will face strong teams such as Eczacıbaşı Dynavit and Fenerbahçe Opet. We also have an important match in the CEV Champions League. After the Club World Championship, of course we are very happy and motivated. However, as I said, we will play important matches this month. My playes are highly motivated and aware of the importance of these matches.”

 

In its next match, VakıfBank will host Galatasaray HDI Sigorta in the Turkish Cup on Wednesday, January 12, at 17.00.
