GIOVANNI GUIDETTI
HEAD COACH
Born in Modena, Italy on September 20 1972, Giovanni Guidetti has been working at VakıfBank since 2008. Guidetti had his first coaching experience at the age of 22 with the Volley 2000 Spezzano team and succeeded in making the hometown team the top league of Italy in 1997. The coach was selected as the "Trainer of the Year" in Italy that year. Guidetti, who worked as assistant coach for the Italian National Team between 1997-2000, participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Giovanni, who worked in the USA for about a year after the Olympics, then returned to Italy; He was the head coach of Vicenza, Reggio Emilia, Modena and Chieri and won the Top Teams Cup Championship with the Chieri team in 2005.
Guidetti, who coached the Bulgarian National Team in the 2003 European Championship and the German National Team between 2006 and 2014, managed the Dutch National Team in 2015 and 2016. The Italian coach became third in the 2009 World Grand Prix, the second in the 2011 and 2013 European Championships, and the 2013 Europa League Championship with the Germany National Team. With the Netherlands National Team, he won the 2015 European Championship Second Place, the 2015 World Grand Prix 2nd Group Championship and the 2016 Olympic Games Fourth Place. Guidetti, who served in the Turkey Women's National Team between 2017 and 2022, won 1 bronze and 1 silver medal in the FIVB Nations League 2 bronze and 1 silver medal in the European Championship with Turkish National Team. The Italian coach took over the Serbian National Team in 2023 and won the silver medal in 2023 CEV European Championship.
In VakıfBank Giovanni Guidetti won; the 2017, 2018 and 2021 FIVB Club World Championship, 2011, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2023 CEV Champions League, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 Turkish League, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2021, 2022 ve 2023 Turkish Cup, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2021 Turkish Super Cup. In addition to these championships, VakıfBank is under the management of the Italian coach; placed second in the 2011 and 2022 FIVB Club World Championships, also got second place in 2014, 2016 and 2021 CEV Champions League, and third in the 2015 and 2019 CEV Champions League.
In the years under the management of Giovanni Guidetti, VakıfBank was named as "Turkey's most international trophies winner team" and took place in the Guinness World Records twice.
